Verification & Trust
A detailed guide to Gadget Trade verification, the verified badge, technology-assisted document checks, account trust signals and the difference between manual verification and a paid badge.
What Gadget Trade verification is
Gadget Trade verification is a trust-and-identity process used to confirm that an account has supplied the information required for the verification level it is applying for. An approved account may receive the Gadget Trade Verified badge on eligible surfaces. Verification adds a useful trust signal while leaving buyers responsible for reviewing the actual product, seller and transaction details.
How technology supports verification
Gadget Trade uses technology-assisted checks to help organise and validate verification submissions. The system can inspect submitted document images, read relevant fields through automated document-processing/OCR techniques, compare supplied information with the account details requested by the verification flow, check for obvious inconsistencies and route submissions to the appropriate review state. Automated checks are an aid to verification; they are not presented as an infallible identity decision and may require clearer documents, additional information or human review.
Document checks before approval
- 1Upload a clear document through the official verification flow.
- 2The system checks that the file is an accepted document image and can attempt to read relevant fields.
- 3Document information is checked for consistency with the details requested by the verification process.
- 4If a document cannot be read, is unclear, does not match the required type or raises an inconsistency, the submission may be stopped or returned for correction.
- 5A submission that passes the required checks can proceed to the applicable review stage.
- 6The verification status shown in your Gadget Trade account is the source of truth.
What the verified badge means
The badge indicates an approved Gadget Trade verification status for the account or verification programme under which it was issued. The badge is generated by Gadget Trade and cannot be created by typing a checkmark, badge character or verification emoji into a name or username. A badge does not guarantee a product, transaction, price, authenticity claim or every statement made by an account.
People, brands and notable accounts
Where a person, business or notable brand is eligible for a verification review, Gadget Trade can use the information and evidence requested by the applicable verification flow to assess the account identity or business relationship. A recognised name or famous brand is not automatically verified simply because it is well known. Accounts must use the official verification process and provide information that can be reasonably checked.
Business verification
Business applicants may be asked for business identity information and supporting records such as registration details or documents. Exact requirements can vary by verification type. Use current, legitimate business information and make sure submitted documents belong to the business or authorised applicant.
Manual verification and Gadget Trade Verified subscription
Manual/free seller verification and the paid Gadget Trade Verified subscription are separate. A paid badge subscription provides the subscription benefit described on the live Subscription page; it does not by itself mean that a manual identity review has been completed. Likewise, an approved manual verification status is distinct from typing a badge symbol into a profile name.
Keep verification information accurate
- Use your own valid information and documents.
- For a business, use information belonging to the business or an authorised representative.
- Do not submit another person’s document without the required authority.
- Do not edit, falsify, crop out important information from, or otherwise manipulate verification material to misrepresent it.
- Use the official Gadget Trade verification flow for submissions, corrections and resubmissions.
- Keep your account name and relevant business information accurate while a verification request is being reviewed.
Names and usernames cannot imitate verification
User-entered names and usernames are not allowed to contain emojis or verification-style symbols intended to imitate a system badge. Gadget Trade applies validation to account identity fields so a user cannot create a name such as a username followed by a blue-check or badge emoji to make it look officially verified. Genuine verification indicators are rendered separately by the platform.
Privacy and document handling
Verification documents are treated as sensitive account material and are handled through the verification flow rather than public marketplace media. Do not upload identity documents to listings, community posts, public reviews or ordinary chats. Only submit documents through the official verification interface when requested.
If a document does not match
A mismatch or failed document check does not necessarily mean an account is permanently rejected. The verification interface may explain what needs to be corrected, such as using the correct document, providing a clearer image or resolving an information mismatch. Follow the displayed correction instructions instead of repeatedly submitting the same unclear document.

Frequently asked questions
Can I put a verified badge emoji in my name?+
No. User names and usernames cannot use emojis or verification-style symbols to imitate an official Gadget Trade badge. The genuine badge is rendered separately by Gadget Trade.
Does a verified badge guarantee a product?+
No. It identifies an approved account verification status. Review the product, seller, listing and transaction information separately.
Does Gadget Trade Verified subscription equal manual verification?+
No. The subscription feature and manual verification are separate programmes.
Does technology make every verification decision automatically?+
Technology-assisted checks help inspect and organise submissions, but a failed automated check can require correction or further review. The status shown by Gadget Trade is the final account-level result.
Where can I check my verification status?+
Open Settings → Gadget Trade Verified to view the current status and available next steps.
Why verification exists
Verification adds an additional trust signal to eligible accounts or sellers. It helps Gadget Trade apply marketplace controls and gives users more information when evaluating who they are dealing with.
What verification does not mean
A verified status does not mean that every listing is accurate, every transaction will succeed or every statement made by a user is guaranteed. Buyers and sellers should still review the actual product and transaction information.
Keeping verification accurate
Verification can be reviewed or changed when account information changes, a security concern arises, or marketplace requirements are updated. Users must not copy or falsely reproduce verification indicators.
